Cougars Show Fight in Home Battle Against Detroit Mercy

CHICAGO, Ill.
  – Chicago State men's soccer turned in a competitive effort Friday night at the Kroc Center, creating chances and battling for 90 minutes in a 3-0 setback to Detroit Mercy.

The Cougars generated nine shots in the match, including six in the second half as they pressed forward in search of the equalizer. Mason Radulski provided an offensive spark off the bench with three attempts, while Jack Geist and Hilary Odhiambo each tested the Titan defense with shots on frame.

Goalkeeper Johan Rodriguez Morales was a standout in net, recording seven saves to keep Chicago State within striking distance for much of the match. On the defensive end, Zephyn Brockert-Kress and Alexander Mutalibov anchored the back line, limiting Detroit Mercy to just four second-half shots.

Despite the final score, Chicago State showed growth with balanced possession (49%) and a strong second-half push that saw the Cougars earn three corner kicks and multiple scoring looks.

The Cougars return to action next week as they continue nonconference play, aiming to build on the attacking chances and resilience displayed against Detroit Mercy.
