CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, September 1, 2025 / EINPresswire.com / -- The mobility start-up Ingenev (INGEN: named after the abbreviation for Integrated Generator) has redeveloped the essential component for a

series hybrid powertrain. Ingenev's mission, based in Chicago, IL, USA, is to give BEV sales an additional boost and significantly transform the BEV industry with its technology. The Integrated Generator consists of a small, low-profile combustion engine that can be integrated into the battery tray of a car. The INGEN charges the battery while driving, while the battery powers the car – a classic, series hybrid. Range anxiety and charging station panic are the two major obstacles to the widespread adoption of BEVs – the INGEN solution aims precisely at this: greater range and independence from certain parts of the country thanks to the built-in range extender. The combustion engine of the range extender can be powered by gasoline, diesel, CNG, or later, hydrogen.

The development of this new combination of a compact combustion engine and battery is the result of two years of R&D, which led to the go-to-market decision in 2025. Volker Kaese, the future CEO of Ingenev Mobility, states: "The INGENEV Powertrain is so easy to implement for OEMs because it was developed in a lean and cost-effective manner for easy integration into existing BEV architectures. This is a major advantage over parallel hybrids, which typically require additional installation space and costs."

Ingenev is in the early stages of rolling out the concept in various applications. However, the seed funding has led to convincing automotive concepts, so a European sales office has now been established. Reeza Zarook, CEO of Ingenev Gl
